It
was a dream come true when I brought Fisher home as a little baby.
At the time, his breeders asked: Maybe you can try and get a CD on
him? What we’ve accomplished so
far is beyond my expectations, and it seems like we are just beginning!
Not
only does Fisher possess a hallmark temperament, great willingness
to work and handsome good looks, he is just a joy to live with. How
else do you describe your four-legged best friend as anything less
than perfect? His favorite jobs are carrying the mailbox key, “helping” (or
is that hindering) me get the groceries out of the car, and making sure
his “babies” (stuffed toys) get plenty of lovin’. He’s
ready for any activity with a wagging tail and a sparkle in his eye.
Fisher
is an exceptional blend of beauty, soundness, type, trainability,
confidence and health. He has an exquisitely correct and masculine
headpiece with full dentition and dark pigmentation – his
expression will melt any heart! He has smooth, balanced movement
with a level topline and tailset; nice depth of rib and short loin;
excellent bone and feet and a superbly constructed rear. Fisher is
24 inches tall, and weighs about 75 pounds. He has very pleasing
proportions and a classic golden outline. He has been well muscled
his whole life, thanks to a strict regimen of playing fetch with
the tennis ball flinger! He does not carry a heavy coat, however
the texture is correct and he dries quickly and never mats. Fisher
is a beautiful bright gold color with platinum blond furnishings.
Fisher's strongest asset is temperament...he is calm and confident in
any new situation, a sweet and gentle friend, yet enthusiastic and eager
for any game. He has an incredible work ethic, never getting down on himself
or quitting, always trying harder after a correction. He is a lightening-fast
learner and up for any challenge. Although we may not qualify, Fisher always
attracts a crowd because he is so fun to watch! Fisher loves other animals
and can get even the shyest puppy (or the cat!) to play. He is a perfectly
awful guard dog and usually greets guests by demanding to stand on their
lap!
Fisher earned his JH and WC with minimal training. He passed the WCX with flying colors at the 2007 Central Regional in Oklahoma, which was a real thrill. We are currently training for Senior and hope to run in the 2008/2009 hunt test season. Fisher’s biddableness and team-player attitude carries over to the field, where he is picking up new concepts well. He is an excellent marker, strong in the water, with perseverance and style.
Many
thanks to Fisher’s breeders Dee and John Thibodeaux who
allowed me to have him, my friends and family for supporting us, our obedience
and tracking instructor Kathy Yates for being at once patient, demanding
and encouraging, and Jen at Showtimedesign.com for creating this beautiful
webpage so I can have a distinctive place on the web to share Fisher’s
accomplishments and silly photos!
